This central Pennsylvania wedding took place at the groom's parents' farm. It was so warm and wonderful...simple flowers, a barbecue, the yummiest apple pie and lots of dancing under a big tent...all along a stream separating us from cows mooing all evening in the distance. Congrats to Regan and Wes! I had such an amazing time with you.

I just photographed Reggie and Mari's amazing wedding in Pittsburgh. Photographers: if you ever get the chance to shoot there, don't walk--run. I LOVED the grungy textures, historic buildings and sweeping views. Can't wait to share the rest, including their hip reception at a modern art gallery called the Mattress Factory.

Betsy and Jason's wedding took place at the Sewall-Belmont House in Washington, DC, just steps from the Capitol. I loved all the color they infused into this historic house.
The house is a museum for womens' rights and was absolutely fitting, since Betsy is an activist for womens' issues here in DC.
{They used flowers grown in their friends' gardens and vases from thrift shops.}
The couple got engaged at a strawberry patch, so their adorable invites
and programs had little strawberries...and for favors, they made
strawberry jam for their guests.
Congrats you two! Thanks for letting me share your special day!

My wonderful friends Ann and Justin tied the knot! It was amazingly gorgeous. Their wedding planner, Pam Barefoot, did a spectacular job and I was so happy to be a guest at this gorgeous event. I snapped a couple photos from the guest point of view, but mainly I was busy enjoying the chip 'wich ice cream sandwiches and the dance floor!

Pinch me....
Thrilled is an understatement! For those that know me, know that I love anything Martha (and so do my sisters and my grandmother, we're all excited). I'm a huge fan of the magazine and I'm so excited to be interviewed in their Spring 2009 Weddings issue in an article on wedding photography. I also got to tell the story behind this photo of Sonya and Janssen and their wedding party, which they published as well. I love one of the messages of the article--that you should just love your wedding photographer's portfolio and not to worry about your photographer's camera type or labeling your photographer's style.
What I'm most excited about....my sister just announced she is getting married and she'll be picking up this issue for her planning!!

Paul and Ursula had a lovely morning wedding at the St. Matthews Cathedral in Washington, DC (getting ready shots at the famous Mayflower Hotel). And then we took a few photos in Dupont Circle. And for the record...they went into Krispy Kreme without my prompt...of course I loved it!!
I love this last one...what a cool couple! I loved being part of your day!

I have to introduce you to the amazing floral designer Laura Dowling! (And she's based in Alexandria where I am!) Her flower design is inspired by the French, hence her business name Interieurs et Fleurs. These images are a sneak peek from our photoshoot. Laura is so talented and professional. I loved working with her. Her bouquets are amazing. They are so special and romantic, they have really unique ribbon handles that photos do not do justice. She designs each one meticulously for a unique look and feel, each with a story behind them.
So, Laura found me on a wedding blog and recongized places from around our neighborhood...but the funny thing is, I had taken a photo of her front door last December when I was walking around and posted the photo my flickr page...I think we were supposed to meet each other. I'm sure I'll share gorgeous images from our shoot soon!

Isn't Mary a pretty bride? ...Ok, these aren't real bridals, Mary is a model I hired...ok, just kidding, Mary is my gorgeous sister, visiting me from Michigan. I wanted to style a wedding look and we had so much fun putting it together and taking a few photos in Old Town...just something to do on a Saturday morning. I found the dress at a vintage shop, the shoes she wore in my wedding and the bouquet (which we're so proud of), we made from flowers from the market. Here's a few more...
thank you mary!!Posted on December 13, 2008 in wedding photography. | Permalink | Comments (12)

Me: "Casey, I know it's 30 degrees outside, but do you two want to take some photos near an abandoned farm I saw down the road?"
Casey: "Of course!!!"
Doesn't she look like a story?

First, press play above. (Song: "Falling Slowly" by Glen Harnsard)
This is the song Martyn and Jenn chose during their ceremony that brought everyone at the All Soul's Church to tears, including me. This was after they all lit candles and did a meditation. It was such a peaceful and moving ceremony. Martyn's dad played the guitar on the song...
.....but it wasn't all seriousness. Jenn and Martyn are one of the coolest and laid back couples I've ever photographed. They were truly surrounded by those who love them. They didn't have a traditional wedding party...their brothers stood up for them.
I loved all the orange details, especially the tangerine place
settings. Her brother said in his toast, "A highlight here today is
seeing my sister so happy; A low-light is putting a tack into everyone
of the those tangerines this morning." Too cute.
After the ceremony, they and their friends took the Metro (yes, the subway!!) to the Harman Center, a new theater here in DC. It had big glass windows and a hockey game was going on across the street at the Verizon Center as the wedding party danced into the night.

Sonya and Janssen had a very late evening wedding and we had the brilliant idea to do a post-wedding photoshoot in the pretty morning light (a modified "trash the dress" photo session and with the groom in tow). I had to go back to the cool tunnel I had found a few weeks ago in Old Town (Alexandria, Virginia).
We loved the results!

Casey is my 'blog friend' (as I describe her to my husband) and I will be photographing her wedding this November. We styled this photoshoot together so she could have some official bridal portraits and wow, we loved the results!
You can see more here. Thanks Casey, that was so much fun! Can't wait for your wedding!

I did a pre-wedding photoshoot of Brian and Kelly in Old Town. I must say that if I was getting married again I would definitely consider their site, the new Jackson 20 restaurant in Alexandria. It was super chic and cool and we had a lot of fun throughout the neighborhood taking a few photos.
